Course Summary

This course covers the main topics in AP Physics 1. We will start with the basics of physics and move to more advanced topics such as rotational motion and electrostatics. We will also go through the ideas behind why concepts and equations work in the real world.

Requirements

Students are required to have completed Algebra 1 and Geometry

Instructions
  1. 1. Download Zoom on a personal device situated in a learning environment.
  2. 2. Click on the view calendar link located on the homepage or in the class dates section of your course. This will take you to a google calendar with the dates and times of all the classes.
  3. 3. Once you have registered, you will be sent the meeting ID and password for your class. Copy this information.
  4. 4. Go to Zoom and enter the meeting ID and password.
  5. 5. Please wait until the teacher accepts you into the class. If the teacher does not accept you after 5 minutes, please email brightscore.academy@gmail.com. The class is a total of 1 hour long.

This class will introduce the basic equations that determine motion. We will look at concepts such as acceleration, velocity, speed, displacement, and distance. There will also be some general metric system and math tips to make future classes easier

In this class, we will learn about vectors and scalars. Then we will apply vectors and concepts from the previous class to learn two-dimensional motion

This class will go over concepts such as force and inertia. We will learn Newton’s three laws of motion and free body diagrams.

In this class, we will solve common problems such as inclined planes and projectile motion. We will learn how to use free body diagrams and the different types of forces in order to solve these problems.

This class will introduce Newton’s law of universal gravitation and compare it to Newton’s laws of motion. We will then apply gravity and other forces to circular motion.

This class will introduce the work-energy theorem and the concept of energy. We will learn how to use conservation of energy to simplify problems.

This class will introduce conservation of momentum and go over when and why it works. We will apply this concept to elastic and inelastic collisions.

In this class, we will apply all the previous concepts and learn their rotational equivalents. We will cover mass moment of inertia, torque, angular momentum, and other rotational analogs of concepts we have already learned.

This class will apply the sine function to simple harmonic motion. We will compare and contrast oscillating systems such as springs and pendulums

In this class, we will learn Coulomb’s law and the concept of electric fields. The four fundamental forces will be introduced and we will go over differences between gravitation and electromagnetism.
