Course Summary
Math Academic Games is a entertaining math board game that involves some creative thinking to create solutions. Most commonly played with 2 other people, this game is seen throughout numerous local Academic games league of america(AGLOA) competitions. This class teaches students how to successfully play this game as well as other tactics to help them do well at these competitions.
Pre-requisites
Know how to do basic operations efficiently: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, exponents, square roots
Instructions
- 1. Download Zoom on a personal device situated in a learning environment.
- 2. Click on the view calendar link located on the homepage or in the class dates section of your course. This will take you to a google calendar with the dates and times of all the classes.
- 3. Once you have registered, you will be sent the meeting ID and password for your class. Copy this information.
- 4. Go to Zoom and enter the meeting ID and password.
- 5. Please wait until the teacher accepts you into the class. If the teacher does not accept you after 5 minutes, please email brightscore.academy@gmail.com. The class is a total of 1 hour long.
Students will learn how to play the game of Equations as well as learning the rules necessary to successfully play. Students will also watch an example game to help ease learning.
Students will learn how to properly utilize two common variations used at the elementary level: sideways and upside down. Students will also learn some tricks associated with sideways and upside down variations that will give them a higher chance of winning.
Students will learn how to utilize another common variation seen at the elementary level:0 wild. Additionally they will learn tricks associated with 0 wild. They will also get to play a round of equations to help them learn the game better.
Students will learn how factorials work, how to properly use them in the game, and learn a few factorial tricks that will boost their chances at winning.
Students will learn the beginning stages of how bases work and how to utilize them.
Students will learn the remaining base rules as well as tricks associated with bases.
This class will be centered on a review of the first 6 classes as well as learning new tricks that weren’t taught before.
This class will give all students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learnt in an actual game setting.
